Descent Into Madness

An audio horror adventure game, reborn on the web

What is DIM?

Descent Into Madness is a audio adventure game involving exploration, puzzle-solving, and, occassionally, fast reflexes. Why did you awaken strapped to an operating table? Who is the doctor in the laboratory recording? And exactly what are those strange sounds you hear coming from the basement?

Can I play?

If you can use the four arrow keys, read or listen to English, tolerate B-movie horror, and see a Play Now button above, you can play this game.

Who built this?

In 2005, two then-UNC undergraduates, Eden Kung and Matt Clark, created the original DIM game on Windows. It became a cult classic of sorts among kids at the NC Governor Morehead School.

In 2012, I set out to bring DIM to the web with two goals. First, I wanted to revitalize this entertaining audio game for a new generation of kids to enjoy. And second, I wanted to build a "choose your own adventure" game engine for future endeavors.
